My story
Desiree is a self-taught Interior Salish beadworker whose creations are rooted in cultural connection, tradition, and positive intention. Raised on Vancouvers West Coast, Hailing from the Lower Nicola community of the Nłeʔkepmxc Nation, she found a meaningful way to reconnect with the land and her heritage through beadwork.
Inspired by the beauty of the land, her cultural teachings, and the traditional skills carried through generations, Desiree creates each piece by hand with patience, care, and purpose. Her beadwork reflects a deep respect for authentic Indigenous artistry, with every detail thoughtfully crafted to carry strong medicine and positive energy.
Through Indijah Bead, she celebrates Indigenous creativity, supports women artists, and helps preserve the skills, stories, and cultural significance woven into traditional beadwork.
